For the past six years, we have skipped the tree lot down the street and gone to a tree farm to choose and cut down our Christmas tree.
The reasons for this are many: a fresh tree drops fewer needles, it's a fun family experience, and because the H wanted to, so we went for it and have kept on going back.
This year we lucked out with the weather. It was chilly but not icy and definitely not raining. However, the farm was still muddy, so next year I think we'll all wear different shoes.
The kids got to see Santa and our tree is neither too heavy nor too big for the house.
