Our weather has been chilly and windy this week, so we've been spending a lot of time indoors. The downside to this is that it's much harder to keep Johnny and Maureen occupied. So on Tuesday, I pulled down my big basket of activities to see what was lurking in there.
I found the box of Yoga Pretzels: 50 Fun Yoga Activities For Kids And Grownups that I bought a couple of years ago. They came highly recommended, and I was looking for something for Johnny and I to do when the newborn Maureen was sleeping. He was a little young for them though, so I put them away and forgot about them. Until this week.
Johnny was super interested this time, and the cards kept us occupied for over an hour.
Some of the poses were difficult for me to do, but it's a learning process. And it was really funny watching Johnny try to do those difficult poses.
Here he is attempting the "arrow."

He was also really interested in the poses that required two people, but some of those were harder, due to our size difference. When we attempted the "back-to-back-chair" we both fell over and landed on the floor, which was funny, but also slightly painful. So I'd recommend doing these on a padded or carpeted surface.
Here he demonstrates the "bear breath."

Maureen was playing with Mr. Potato Head, but then she came over to do yoga too.

I like that the cards are large, colorful and sturdy, with easy to follow instructions. And I like that I actually felt like I got some exercise while playing with my kids.
This photo was taken later in the day. I call it "My First Tat." I put temporary Halloween tattoos on the kids when I found them in the same activity basket. Maureen has a mummy on her tummy and Johnny has a skeleton. Here they are showing them off.
Do you have any inside activities to recommend for those cold and rainy days? Leave me a comment!

When my kids are getting crazy in the house, my husband has them do jumping jacks and then relays back and forth across the house. They actually really like to do it, they get exercise, it's a game, and it tires them out:)
We built a lot of forts/tents, lots of arts and crafts, also cooking.
I love the kid yoga though...that is awesome and Johnny looks like he is having a ton of fun!! Maureen is so adorable with that hair and her tattooed tummy...both of them, so cute!!
