Early this week, we traveled to Mystic, Connecticut for a 4 day vacation. The city is on the easternmost shoreline of the state, and offers plenty for families to do.
Day One was spent mostly in the car. Johnny didn't sleep and Maureen only slept for an hour. So by 630PM, she was exhausted and went to bed, while John and his parents took Johnny to a pizza parlor for dinner. When I peeked in on Maureen, I discovered that she had managed to get her arm out of one sleeve.
Johnny, on the other hand, was wide awake.
On Tuesday, we went to the Mystic Seaport, which is the largest maritime museum in the US. It covers 17 acres and includes several historic vessels and a 19th century coastal village.
Here is Johnny outside the entrance.
The family.

This is Johnny and I aboard a fishing vessel. He went on it first with his father, then proceeded to give me the tour. "This is the helm, Mom!"

It was boiling hot and the sun blazed. I dressed Maureen in this dress so she would be cool, but she ended up a little pink instead.

The museum is so large, it takes two days to see it all, so when the kids started to get cranky and hot, we headed back to the hotel for naps. After naptime, we went to a yummy market nearby for dinner, where I had the best roast beef sandwich I've ever had in my life. Johnny was refreshed by his nap, but as you can see from this picture, Maureen was still tired.
Once back at the hotel, they had baths and sat on Maureen's bed together for a snack.
Johnny was good and tired this time.
To Be Continued!
