Our gorgeous weather continues, so this morning the kids and I met my friend Christine and her kids at the playground. Then we went for a walk along the water. We were out for about 2 1/2 hours, and when we got home, I noticed that my shoulders are a bit pink. Christine said the first sunburn of the season is always a little bit exciting. OOH! SUN! Hurrah, winter is over! And my shoulders don't hurt, so I don't mind too much. I'll just be sure to put sunscreen on next time.
Anyway, I'm reminded of some of the worst sunburns of my life. When I was 20, I went to the beach with my family. The pain killer I was taking for my knee made me sun sensitive. I got fried. One year, for the Fourth of July, we took a sailing trip across the Bay. It was horribly hot, no shade to speak of, and the burn I got on one of my legs was so bad that the wind blowing across my skin was painful.
There are parts of your body that hurt really bad if you get a sunburn. Here is my list:
**ears: I always make sure to coat Johnny's ears with sunscreen if he insists on choosing the baseball hat over the bucket hat. It's also really hard to sleep at night if you can't lay your head down without pain.
**lips: Here's a tip. If you use a Vaseline based lip balm, trade it in for something with sunscreen in it when you spend a lot of time outdoors. Sunburned lips are agony.
**the part in your hair: Not only does it hurt to have sunburn on your scalp, it looks really weird. And if it's bad enough that it flakes, you look like you have dandruff.
**between your boobs: You know that really pale skin right between the girls that only sees the light of day when you're wearing a bathing suit? Put sunscreen on it. Trust me.
**inner thighs: Another spot that normally is covered up. Very hard to walk if your skin is crispy.
Any to add?
It might only be April, but the sun is already quite strong. Don't forget your sunblock!

the tops of your feet. It'd really hard to wear shoes if the tops of your feet are burnt!
Backs of the thighs...when you sit and stick to the chair....wahhhhh!!!
