Sick Day

We had a nice Easter (pictures coming soon), but today I feel dreadful. I went to bed last night with a whopper of a sinus headache and woke up with a congested chest and a stuffy nose. My sinuses hurt something awful, the headache won't go away, and I feel sick to my stomach. The idea of food is nauseating.

I would love to crawl into my bed and stay there, but there's just that pesky little detail of having two little kids to take care of. And approximately five hours until bedtime.

So what's an ailing mom to do?

I dosed myself with Sudafed and Motrin, drank a cup of Echinacea tea and made myself eat something bland. While Maureen napped, I put in a video for Johnny and lay on the couch. Unfortunately, my little rest was punctuated by a running commentary on the movie. "Look Mom, the pig is talking to the duck!" "Mom, that duck was BAD, he spilled the paint!" "Mom, do you see the puppies running? They say woof! Say woof, Mom!" So I didn't really get to rest.

Maureen is up now and I feel worse than ever. So I plugged in my iPod and listened to some tunes to try and get my energy up. How can you listen to House of Pain's 'Jump Around' and not at least lift your heels off the floor?

It's working so far, because I'm not so tempted to call my husband and ask him if he can come home. But I still don't have the energy to take the kids outside.

Stay-home mom's: How do you get through your day when you are sick?

Sorry you are sick!

I was sick with strep last week and Dh was trying to get his finals done part of the time and was out of town the other part. I basically just took as much ibuprofen as possible and watched a lot of TV with the kids.

Get feeling better!

I hope you feel better! When I'm sick AND I have the kids, I do exactly what you did. Self medicate and let them watch movies as much as I can while I veg on the couch and count the seconds until my husband comes home.
