When I went to work on Wednesday, I was dismayed to find that half the staff was recovering from a horrible virus and most of the remaining half was just getting sick. My family has been pretty healthy this winter, so I sort of meant it when I said that they should let me go home because I was healthy.
As it turns out, even though both kids and I received the flu shot this winter, we're out of luck because the strain that has decimated the staff at work and sickened hundreds of college students (who live in close quarters and cough on each other) is not the strain that the vaccine protects against.
Make that a double damn.
Both kids had diarrhea yesterday, but seem to be fine today.
On the other hand, my sinuses are so clogged with crud that I am constantly sniffling and my chest is starting to hurt and all the postnasal drip is upsetting my stomach. And when you live with little people who are not good with handwashing and covering their sneezes, chances are that someone is going to get sick.
Hopefully I just have a cold.
What can you do to protect yourself?
Nothing. The germs are coming for you. *sniffle*
