Earlier today, I took the kids upstairs so I could check the dryer and start pulling stuff together for our trip to the beach.
I settled Maureen on the floor in the kids' bedroom with a pile of books and went down the hallway to dig out a bag for all their clothes.
I love watching Johnny interacting with her when he doesn't think I'm looking.
As I stood in the hallway, he sat next to her and "read" her a book (a 101 Dalmatians book with rhyming words like 'sleep' and 'creep' that he has memorized). Then, as I secretly watched, he put his arms around her, gave her a hug, kissed her head and told her, "I love you, Maureenie!"

I am very very proud of him for the big brother he has become.
