I signed! It's funny- I am not very committed to any specific cause but this is something that really bothers me. I know I can't live a "China Free" life because EVERYTHING is made in China, but I've been trying hard to at least limit food from China. Did you know in the last few months, ALL fruit juice companies (with the exception of Wegman's and Motts high end products) are now made from apples from China- not Argentina or Chile, like before? (Btw, Wegman's and Motts high end products- not the regular or Motts for Tots) are made from USA grown apples. I don't trust the quality of the products- so I'll risk looking like a crazy woman and spend the 15 minutes in the aisle reading the manufactured location.
I had no idea apple products weren't made from American apples. I never considered that we were importing that stuff too! Tim said he read an article somewhere about a family who tried living a "china free" life for a year and it was really hard for them to find things that weren't made in china. They weren't able to replace their coffee maker because they all come from china. It took six weeks to find shoes that weren't made in china and when they did, the Italian made shoes cost $80, and they were kids shoes! I'm going to start spending more time reading the "made in" labels!
Thank you so much for sahring this... it needs to stop. I was livid when I found out the 4 of my sons' train cars that they had been mouthing for quite some time had lead in the paint. HELLO!!! One of them had been having some weird stomach issues which have cleared up since throwing those trains away. Makes me wonder...

I had read an article a few weeks back about how so much stuff comes from China, the man writing the had a very hard time finding things that did not come from China, even with tooth paste some ingredients in the tooth past came from China. You have to really read how it is worded, it has to say made in U.S.A not just Distributed in U.S.A any way I do remember that Aqua Fresh was the only brand he found that was totally made in U.S.A. I will see if I can find that article again I know I read it on MSN.
It is sad and a shame this needs to stop!
