Vocabulary Lessons

Johnny's language abilities have been getting really complex lately, and he keeps busting out with hilarious stuff. For example:

***It was terribly hot the past few days. We went food shopping, and as Johnny climbed into the hot and steamy van, he said, "Ugh, I'm hot. It's stifling in here!" Yesterday, I peeled him off the ceiling so we could go to the playground, and as he sat on the swings, he yelled, "It's stifling out here!" over and over.

***The only TV show Johnny really watches is Sesame Street, and PBS doesn't come in very well. As he watched it yesterday, the reception was not great and I couldn't get it clear. In frustration, I said, "What's wrong with this thing?" Johnny knew. "It's interference, Mom!"

***As Johnny ran around being a maniac yesterday, I asked, "Whatcha doing, Bud?" "I'm being rambunctious!"

***Our conversation yesterday:
"Hey, Johnny, what does Grandmom say?"
"Grandmom says Oh My LOOOOOORRRRDDDDD!"
"What about Busia?"
"Busia says What A Dump!"
"Pop-Pop?"
"Turkey bottom!"
"What does the other Pop say?"
"Pop-Pop falls down a lot. He fell on the sidewalk. Pop broke his glasses and he broke his phone. He hurt his arm and his leg. Pop went BOOM!" (if you're aware of my dad's tendency to fall down, this will be funnier.)
"What does Daddy say?"
"Umm...Where's my beer!" (John will tell you this is not accurate, as he always knows where his beer is.)
"What does Mommy say?"
"I love you!"

***And my personal favorite: This morning, he asked for blueberry yogurt for breakfast, but we're all out. When I told him it was all gone, he knew what to do. "We have to go to the store and get some more. But not at Walmart!" I loathe going to Walmart, so I thought this one was really funny.

***He's also started calling us Mom and Dad some of the time instead of Mommy and Daddy. I certainly didn't teach him this, he figured it out all on his own. I am so not ready to not be Mommy anymore!

Collin heard someone call me Erin one day and every so often, that's what he calls me instead of Mommy! I refuse to acknowledge him until he calls me Mommy. I am so not ready for my kid to call me by my first name!
