Making The Baby Mad

Maureen was born with a clogged tear duct. Johnny had one too, but his cleared up when he was about 5 months old. Our pediatrician said if it's not cleared up by 9 months, we'll consider an eye specialist, and if it isn't cleared up by a year, a quick surgery to unclog the duct.

It doesn't seem to bother her, but her eye gets gunky and sometimes her eyelashes are all stuck together.

She's normally a very pleasant and happy baby, but the quickest and easiest way to make her mad is to wipe her eye or her face. She cries and squirms and turns her face away. She's incredibly strong for such a little person!

Yesterday, she got sweet potatoes all over her face, so I rinsed a washcloth under the tap to clean her off. She saw me coming with it and started to fuss. Before I even touched her with it.

Poor baby girl, let's hope the duct unclogs on its own, and soon.

Aw, poor thing! No kid likes getting their face cleaned, but making a game of it seems to help us... we use that time to review parts of the face... each part that I wipe, I say the name of that part in my best happy sing songy mommy voice. Lol!

I hope the duct clears up on it's own.

I agree with lei, most kids don't care for their face cleaned.
