Tonight I discovered something about summer that I didn't notice before.
It's a heck of a lot easier to ignore bedtime routines when it stays light so long.
Since it's been so hot lately, and today was cooler and breezier, we went for a walk after dinner. By the time John got home, changed his clothes and we ate dinner, it was 7PM, and we took a nice long walk.
It was 815 when we got back, and we were all sweaty, so both kids needed baths and Johnny needed to use the potty and brush his teeth.
Normal bedtime is no later than 8, but tonight it was closer to 9.
I figure it's because in the winter, it's dark at 5PM and you have no excuse not to go upstairs and get ready for bed.
Hopefully the kids will sleep in a little tomorrow morning, but I'm not counting on it. The only time they seem to sleep in is when we have someplace to go. Either way, we enjoyed our walk so much, it was worth it.

I count taking walks with my family as one of my simplest, yet greatest pleasures. Its totally worth delaying bedtime in my book!
