Summer and Snot Do Not Go Together

Both the kids have colds. Johnny got sick first, and then Maureen started to sound stuffy last night. She's usually such a happy baby, it's sort of a shock to have her so fussy today. She did take a couple of decent naps, but her nose is crusty and she doesn't want to be held, but she cries if I put her down.

Johnny was up super late last night and got up early this morning, so it was a long day. He dissolved into tears upon being told that lunch was NOT going to be cookies and juice. I also learned that I can't trick him by telling him we don't have juice, because he'll open the fridge and point to it: "We have juice! Right there!"

Tonight we went to a free outdoor concert by one of our favorite local bands, Donegal X-pres. We usually attend a couple of their outdoor shows per summer, but this one was at a different venue, and man, was it packed! We managed to find a corner to stand in and one of the songs was one we refer to as "Johnny's Jig,"and he enjoying jumping up and down to it. However, it was too crowded, too loud, and people are just too rude. I had to bump the stroller down into the street because some woman refused to move to let me by when we were leaving. I should have just run over her foot.

I hate summer colds. The sunshine and the heat just don't seem to go with Vicks and tissues.

Summer colds seem to be harder to get rid of too for some reason.

*hugs*

Hey, how are you liking Marley & Me?

I tried to trick Collin into eating spaghetti the other night by renaming it "red mac and cheese" because thats all he wants to eat. He was all excited about it too, until he saw it. He took one look at his plate and said "Collin no want spaghetti"! No amount of renaming or cajoling would convince him to take a bite and he was seriously mad about not getting his mac and cheese. When did they get so darn smart?

OMG Erin, that is so funny! My cousin's daughter ate an entire plate of BBQ pork at my grandma's house because her other cousins told her it was ground up hotdogs.
